WODS is introducing an annual $10 membership fee starting in 2025 to help support our long-term strategic plan, and to reduce costs for players who participate in multiple WODS leagues each year.
A WODS membership fee will be required to play in all leagues except Youth leagues. Players participating in tournaments only (e.g., May Days or Oktoberfest) are not required to pay the membership fee, though they can choose to.
The $10 annual membership fee is valid from January 1 to December 31. It covers all teams/leagues within the membership year purchased (e.g., a 2025 membership covers Winter League 2025 through Fall League 2025).
You can purchase a $10 membership fee starting January 1st here, or it will be required when you register or roster for your next WODS league (like signing the WODS waiver or concussion code of conduct). If you are a WODS Winter League participant rostered as a regular player as of the first game on Jan 3, 2025, then your WODS membership fee is considered included in your Winter League registration fee, and no additional $10 fee will be needed for 2025.
Your WODS membership fee gives you the following benefits:
- Payment by WODS of membership dues and insurance with Ontario Ultimate and Ultimate Canada
- Access to member-exclusive partner deals and events
- The ability to vote in the Annual General Meeting (for members 18 years and older)
- Lower league fees if you play in multiple WODS leagues
We appreciate your partnership with us as we continue to grow Ultimate in Waterloo. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at president@wods.ca.
Sincerely,
Jon Rummells, President
On behalf of the WODS Board of Directors
FAQ
How was the amount for the membership fee decided?
The membership fee covers overhead costs like insurance and Zuluru fees. Previously, these costs were included in league fees, causing players who played in multiple leagues to pay extra for each league beyond the first. The membership fee is not being viewed as a way to bring in additional revenue to WODS.
Do subs have to pay the membership fee?
Yes, all players in WODS leagues, both regular players and subs, must pay the $10 membership fee, except for participants in Youth leagues.
Do Youth participants have to pay the membership fee?
No, Youth league participants will have their membership fee covered by WODS (even if they later join a non-Youth league). Players who start in a non-Youth league and join a Youth league later the same year can request reimbursement of their membership fee from WODS.
Do tournament players have to pay the membership fee?
No, players participating in tournaments only (e.g., May Days or Oktoberfest) are not required to pay the membership fee, though they can choose to. There will be a free membership tier for tournament only players.
